- Mrs. March: Tell Joe to come talk to me.
- (Joe approaches with scowl and head down.)
- Mrs. March: Did you hit Sally?
- Joe: (mumble) Yes.
- Mrs. March: Why did you hit Sally?
- (enormous pause with Joe wearing a "thinking look.")
- Mrs. March: Why did you hit Sally?
- Joe: ummmm... She had a plan to hit me.
