"Put on your Mom Jeans"

*This post inspired by Tia mentioning Mom Jeans in her blog*
"Put on your Mom Jeans," is a jingle from an SNL commercial, which WOULD have me laughing soda through my nose if I WEREN'T a mother. I am mystified by the shelf belly created by post-pregnancy. Apparently it remains forever if it is not treated with plastic surgery. Stretch marks I could live with - I don't need to wear two piece swimwear. It is the shelf which cannot be hidden, Mom Jeans or not. "Maureen," you say, "you only had a baby three weeks ago. Surely, your body will return to normal." Only if my name were Jennifer Garner or Denise Richards. Who am I trying to kid? I didn't look like either one of them before either. So, bring on the Mom Jeans. I promise not to wear them with tucked-in collared shirts and little belts.

If you wait long enough, maybe high-rise "mom" jeans will be cool again. And what are you talking about? You're way hotter than Jennifer Garner and Denise Richards. Seriously. (Besides, they're both really dumb.)
